Bayers Lake Community Health Outreach Centre
The Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre in Halifax was designed to provide outpatient healthcare services in a more accessible location outside the traditional hospital setting. This facility is part of the broader QEII New Generation Project, which aims to modernize healthcare infrastructure in Nova Scotia. The center offers services such as physiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, dialysis, and post-surgery follow-ups, among others.
The architectural design was a collaboration between Parkin Architects and FBM Architects, with a focus on natural materials and warm textures to reflect the surrounding Nova Scotia landscape. A key feature of the building is its Great Hall, a welcoming double-height space with abundant natural light and clear wayfinding, making the experience comfortable for patients and staff alike.
Construction was carried out by EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare, as part of a public-private partnership (P3) model. The facility spans approximately 134,000 square feet on a 15-acre site in the Bayers Lake Business Park.
